Brain Balance Achievement Centers is proud to announce a nationwide collaboration with Cambridge Brain Sciences (CBS), a leading online platform for cognitive assessments, co-founded by renowned neuroscientist Dr. Adrian Owen.
Unlike typical education franchises, Brain Balance is the leading drug-free program to help children improve their focus, behavior, social skills and academics. The collaboration with CBS will provide access to data on changes in cognitive development over time and how developmental concerns impact cognition in children and young adults.
The research study, which CBS began in May, is open to the general public as well as current enrollees in the Brain Balance program. The data collected over the next year, through both child and young adult cognitive assessments, will allow scientists at CBS to better understand what cognitive development looks like in individuals who struggle with such challenges as ADHD, dyslexia, processing disorders, high-functioning autism and anxiety.
“This collaboration will help provide a deeper understanding of how cognition changes throughout development,” says Dr. Rebecca Jackson, Vice President of Outcomes and Programs for Brain Balance. “We know first-hand how many thousands of lives Brain Balance has transformed, and the findings of this study will only strengthen our validation that our program works and will allow us to continue to evolve to help families see real results.”
The data will partially be collected from Brain Balance centers nationwide, which will begin using CBS cognitive testing in part of our student assessments. Assessments are conducted at the beginning and end of our customized programs to compare data and showcase individual results.
“For the past 30 years, my research has focused on furthering our understanding of the brain,” says Owen, chief scientific officer of CBS. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with Brain Balance on this ongoing study that aims to shed light on how cognition develops in children and young adults in a more comprehensive way than has previously been possible.”
How we differ from education franchises
An estimated 10% of children are diagnosed with ADHD, and about 15% overall have some sort of developmental disability, according to the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Parents frustrated with traditional approaches to their children’s behavioral, academic and social challenges are often feeling desperate by the time they reach out to Brain Balance. Our science-based program and unique customer experience make the business sustainable and in high demand.
Unlike typical education franchises, which tend to be solely focused on academic tutoring, our franchises offer a personalized, drug-free program that is aimed at strengthening brain connectivity. We do that by using an integrative approach of sensory engagement, physical development, academics and nutrition.
We’ve helped thousands of individuals over the past decade to improve critical life skills and create a brighter path for their future.
The CBS assessment
Brain Balance centers nationwide began using CBS cognitive testing in May as part of a new young adult program, the Brain Balance Summer College Reboot for ages 18-24, and rolled out the assessments to all students in early summer. The web-based CBS assessment measures cognitive function including concentration, memory, reasoning and verbal skills.
